This platform structure gives Apple an edge, according to Epic, because consumers are required to use the iPhone payment processing system, which prevents developers from collecting payment directly. In the separate case against Google, Epic accuses the company of using illegal anti-competitive tactics in the market for the distribution of mobile apps to Android users, and the market for processing payments for digital content within Android mobile apps.
