I thought I would get the story of a woman going through detox, instead, it's a tale of white privilege and the author almost seems pleased with how people are enamored with her story. This true story reads like fiction written by a college freshman taking an intro to writing class. Save yourself and find something else to read.
Literaly the best book I have ever read. I could not put this book down. When I did, I still found myself wondering what was going to happen next.
I laughed ans cried. Found myself at a juicy part of the book and was trying to speed read to see what happened. I highly recommend this book. It's not very often I come by a book that has me so hooked This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I have a hard time believing the SWAT cop said that.
I also was administering Chemo before I got clean. You can feel it. The only thing that separates her, which she admits, is she dated a cop. She has an enormous Ego. She still sees the world as it owes her something. I know she would be a person I would avoid at a meeting.
She went through a few tough things during moments like all addicts do, but she never really hit a rock-bottom in terms that she REALIZES what she did was wrong. I thought once I got thru her drama that she would have something inspiring to say. That never happens. Her personality wants to give one star, but you have to give a person credit for making it 5 years clean. Aug 01, Claudia rated it it was ok. Didn't she have an editor? A lot of self-aggrandizing without a comparable amount of self-reflection.
The predatory inmates and the authoritarian C. View 2 comments. Very little, if any, acknowledgment of personal accountability in the narrative. Name calling alone doesn't qualify, in my opinion. I don't feel judgmental of those in recovery, but I do feel that accepting responsibility for one's behavior is a critical component. It's stressed in 12 step programs. Maybe it happened, but it's not recorded here. Hello, white privilege! So many women of color have committed so many fewer and less serious crimes and are serving out the lengthy prison sentences they Very little, if any, acknowledgment of personal accountability in the narrative.
So many women of color have committed so many fewer and less serious crimes and are serving out the lengthy prison sentences they were given. The vast majority of her 15 year sentence was suspended. Clearly, we can't help which family we are born into.
The enormous advantages conferred by whiteness is a huge part of this story. Its absence in the telling leaves this reader questioning whether the author recognizes it, owns it, appreciates how huge a factor it is in her story. I couldn't put it down! I saw this book was released today so I purchased it as I follow the author on Facebook and I love watching her videos and only knew a little about her life story but I was always intrigued.
I'm not a reader and if I do get a book it better be good because I need to be hooked immediately. I purchased the book this morning and just finished it. So soo good! I had moments of shock and moments where I wanted to cry. I wanted to reach into the book and I couldn't put it down! I wanted to reach into the book and hug her.
She is truly inspiring. I am so happy her story has a happy ending. I started watched her videos because she always made me laugh and I related to her mommy moments!

I was curious I begin to feel bored I set the book down, I was in the kitchen finishing up a late breakfast. I finished my tea, then Audiobook When I returned to the book, I was less inspired- good nap though.
Not awful - not great. The author is probably best known for her blog Juggling the Jenkins. Most do not know about her criminal past that includes 27 felonies or her lengthy stay in jail. She was a drug addict and willing to go to any lengths to get them. Even if that meant betraying her live in boyfriend who happened to be a Sherriff's Deputy. And she did. Tiffany had a somewhat tumultuous childhood but she still became the captain of her high school cheerleading squad and student body president.
No one expected to he The author is probably best known for her blog Juggling the Jenkins. At first, I assumed the bad language was necessary in order to accurately represent the author's state of mind during the events but it never really slowed down. I love to recommend books that I highly enjoy to others but the language in this one is too pervasive for my friends who are turned off by the poor choice of words.
However, readers who do not mind constant expletives should definitely read this book. I have a much deeper understanding of the thought process addiction creates.
The author's life as recorded in this book played out like a movie! I could not stop listening to it! Tiffany is so transparent and honest about her inner thoughts and emotions, I feel like I bonded with her and that she is now my friend. Saw raw and true. Her own voice being used is even better. Great, great book! By clicking "Notify Me" you consent to receiving electronic marketing communications from Audiobooks.

With heart-racing urgency and unflinching honesty, Jenkins takes you inside the grips of addiction and the desperate decisions it breeds. She is a born storyteller who lived an incredible story, from blackmail by an ex-boyfriend to a soul-shattering deal with a drug dealer, and her telling brims with suspense and unexpected wit. But the true surprise is her path to recovery.
Jenkins breaks down the stigma around drug addiction and recovery in her first book, giving readers a story that is both joyous and heartbreaking. It is an amazing page turner and you will laugh, cry and walk away with a better understanding that we are all just human beings that make mistakes but that can overcome them!
Thank you for being such a brave inspiration Tiffany Jenkins! The audio version of this book is incredible! Having the author narrate makes the experience more meaningful. Tiffany has a unique down to earth personality and listening to her tell her story in her own voice was quite moving.
While based largely on her substance abuse and the path of destruction it took her on this book is for everyone not just those in recovery. She addresses the life events that prompted her into stepping into the world of alcohol and substance abuse, which include depression and anxiety. The author inspires the reader to get out of their comfort zones and embrace their awkwardness!!
I highly recommend this book! Tiffany is the most amazing human I have ever seen. Her truth and candor is unlike any other. I watch her VLOG and can't get enough of her. She is freaking hilarious!! I want to be her friend. I wish we could hang out. This story is so good I think it should be a movie. The was she describes her story is so detailed I could see it playing through in my head!!! Tiffany is just perfectly real. Fell in love with her realness in motherhood on Juggling the Jenkins and haven't been able to quit her.
Great book, and I loved the she narrated it herself. Thanks for sharing your story Tiffany! I've been in recovery for 32 years and I applaud Ms. Jenkins on turning her life around.
But, my God, to go through every excruciating detail of her usage and then focus so little on her recovery? Just not for me. The miracle of getting sober is what it is complicated, hard to describe and incredibly beneficial for a wider audience to understand. Relating the behavior that leads to sobriety is mostly dull as toast, repetitive and indulgent.
That is certainly the case here. Every addict thinks their story is so UNIQUE, hate to say it, we're all pretty much the same plateful of problems and hijinks.
Tiffany is an amazing, strong, funny, and beautiful person inside and out. Her journey from where she was to now gives hope to any addict. I recommend tgis vook to any addict, or family of a loved one in recovery. I could feel every word in my heart. I laughed with her and cried with her.
Clumsy, lazy sentence construction riddled with cliche after cliche. Awkward use of vulgar language. And a tedious description of her time in jail. I stopped after 10 pages or so, and returned my audio book for something better, by which I mean anything else. Main Nav Subject Navigation.

I tried my best not to think about all the different feet that had already worn these rubber shoes, but, despite my best efforts, I was haunted by the thought of how many different species of bacteria would soon be inhabiting my toes.

While there are many books about eminent retailers, From Bags to Blenders tells the story from a different angle — from the point of view of a supplier. This fascinating and amusing book explains why the biggest challenge in building a successful company is the development of a culture of teamwork and passion for the business while, at the same time, avoiding arrogance and taking advice from those with experience.
